The Great Canadian Adventure Eh!

Last weekend we took Owen to meet his Canadian kin. We flew in far too late on Thursday evening/Friday morning, and arrived at my good friend Travis' house about 2 a.m. Relatively speaking Owen did great on the trip which included a layover in Calgary.
We spent 4 days visiting friends and family, including 2 days at Great Grandma Bain's. Owen, who typically naps ~1hr at a time during the day managed to go 2 for 2 on 3hr naps when we had him at Great Grandma's, sleeping away much of the opportunity for socializing. Of course his Great Grandma and Great Aunts and Uncles spoiled him, and a number of new toys and clothes were received. Thankfully I'd brought some beer up for Travis, so we had room to haul it all back.

Owen does not usually use a pacifier. We think he looks very strange and unfamiliar with it. But it kept his little ears from hurting during landing.
Mostly he did not suck on it, but instead tried to eat it and throw it on the floor
"Who are you?"

He was not a Marina fan... its OK though, I think she cried like this the one time I held her when she was his age.

4 Month Check-up

Owen had his four month check-up on Tuesday, where the pediatrician answered my long list of questions, checked him head to toe and administered five shots. He weighed 15 lbs (35th percentile), was 25.75 inches long (71st percentile) & his head circumference was 16 3/8 inches (44th percentile). The pediatrician said he looked perfect. He also reached a six month milestone by being able to hold his chest up with straight extended arms while lying on his stomach. He was a champ with the shots. He work up at 4:00 a.m. with a low-grade fever and Wednesday afternoon he had a bit of a fever, otherwise he was his happy self. He did not want to take a nap, however, in crib Wednesday afternoon. He slept fine in my arms, but the second I tried to up him down he cried and was awake. Just a little extra cuddle time with mom.

We leave for our Canadian adventure this evening. We're really looking forward to introducing Owen to his Great Aunts & Uncles, his Great-Grandma Isabel, and friends. I'm hoping he sleeps on the flights. We depart at 7:15 p.m., right when we would normally be putting him to sleep, have a layover in Calgary, and finally arrive in Edmonton at 12:20 a.m. followed by an hour drive to St. Albert. It might be a rough night for Owen & his parents. Oh well, we'll make it regardless.

4 Months

Owen was being a real ham, talking, yelling, kicking his legs, squirming, playing with his hands, sticking out his tongue, trying to sit up and smiling (you know being a baby), during his 4 month photo shoot.

Here are some of the outtakes...

Activities

Owen has found a couple toys that he really enjoys, Tomy the dragonfly & Sophie the giraffe. These two toys provide hours of entertainment.

I love to eat Tomy.
Now what do I do?
Sophie's ears are my favorite.

Owen also enjoys sitting on dad's shoulders while pulling his ears and eating his hair. He's also still a fan of facing forward int he Moby carrier. We take almost nightly walks around the neighborhood pond.

Owen typically is pretty neutral about bathing; however, if he is tired he most definitely is not a fan. One thing he enjoys about his bedtime routine though his the foot massage.
