38 Weeks

No exciting news at my 38 week check-up. I'm still pregnant. The doctor predicts that Pat is between 6 1/2 to 7 lbs, although acknowledges that they are notoriously wrong on predicting baby weight. I'm hoping he's at least 7 lbs, which I'm confident he will be. I continue to feel well, just tired. I've had a number of Braxton-Hicks last week, but none the last couple of days. The weather in Portland has been amazing, 60-75 degrees, so I've been walking everyday after work.

This Friday will be my last day of work. I had applied for a position with adidas, but if offered the position, I would have needed to go back to work in 3.5 months. After much debate, a number of phone calls to friends, both working moms and stay-at-home moms, and a visit to a child care center where I left in tears, I decided to withdraw from consideration and take advantage of the additional time at home. I figured I can always work, but can't get those months back with our little baby. I still think I'll return to work because I enjoy what I do and think I'll miss it, time will tell. Hopefully there will be an opportunity with adidas when I'm ready to return to work.

Andrew and I are getting very excited, although still patient. We can't wait to meet him.

37 Weeks

At my 36 week appointment I was dilated not quite one cm and was 50% effaced, YAY, that's something right? (Even though I know it really means nothing besides I will deliver this baby sometime in the next 2-3 weeks). The doctor also reported much to my satisfaction that the baby was head down. One week later there was no change, but I had gained 2.5 pounds between week 36 & 37, putting my weight gain at 26 pounds. I continue to feel well, but I'm tired, very tired. I also am short of breath walking from the parking garage, up two flights of stairs, across the road and to my desk each morning. I'm still working and planned on working up until Friday, April 5, although now I'm thinking I may be more comfortable working part-time the final week. I'm just so tired (I know, this is nothing to how I'll feel after the the little bundle of joy arrives and I'm waking at all hours to feed him.)

Portland Baby Shower

Pat couldn't be more loved. This past Saturday, March 9 (one month before my due date), a third baby shower was hosted in Pat's honor by my good friend Leon. It was complete with a cupcake sampler, Jordan sneakers, a basket of books, a robe for Mom and many other great baby items. We had a really great time, lots of baby talk and laughs. I'm fortunate to have such wonderful friends. I think we have all the gear, wow we just need the baby....

Babymoons

Andrew and I were fortunate to get-away for a couple of weekends recently. We first went to Bend, OR with our good friends Leon & Kevin and their dog Jilly. We had a great time. While Kevin and Andrew skied on Saturday Leon and I treated ourselves to spa pedicures. On Sunday Andrew and I enjoyed a hike, which overlooked Bend. It was great to get-away and relax.

This past weekend Andrew and I traveled to Seattle. It's a place neither of us had been. It is only a three hour drive from Portland. We had a really great time. We enjoyed Pike's Place, taking in sites of the city and taking in a circus show at Teatro ZinZanni. If you're ever in Seattle, we recommend the show. It was great to relax and explore someplace new. We realize that will probably be our last get-away without a little one for quite some time.
